Prosthechea spondiana (Rchb.f.) W.E.Higgins (1998) is accepted species by POWO, Kew. The native range of this species is Cuba, Jamaica, Central America. It is a pseudobulbous epiphyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.
This species has synonym as Encyclia spondiada Dressler (1971).

Description:
Our candidate has 35 flowers and 12 buds on 11 inflorescences up to 10-cm. Plant is 70-cm wide and 25-cm tall and grown in -cm basket in the bark mix. Leaves are 20-cm long by 3-cm wide, pseudobulds 9-cm long.
