Vandachostylis Yen HKN Ng (V. lamellata x Van. Vinita).

This cross was registered by Ho-Kin Ng in 2016 and originator is unknown.

I would like to share some information from the exhibitor:

'The name on this one is a bit of a challenge…

This was purchased from Lowe’s

It has a printed tag that says

V. lamellata x Noi Blue x

Rhy. coelestis, blue lip

When I purchased this plant approx. 2 years ago, before there were any awards to this color form. There was no hybrid listed for V. (lamellata x Noi Blue), so I looked up V. Noi Blue x coelestis) nothing…then reversed it and found that Rhy. coelestis x V. Noi Blue was Van. Vinita, which crossed to V. lamellata is Van. Yen HKN Ng.

Just now I looked up the cross again, since I couldn’t remember what the eventual name was and see that now R. F. Orchids, Inc. has registered V. (lamellata x Noi Blue) as V. Thai Blue with unknown originator, and they have registered V. Thai Blue x Rhy. coelestis as Rhynchovanda (which is an incorrect genus now and also originator unknown) Sandi Block-Brezner. there are no awards to this crossing yet in our records.'
