Paphiopedilum Nivarose (Paph. sukhakulii x Paph. niveum) was originated and registered by Ratcliffe in 1978.


Previous Awards:

There is only one AOS award for this cross; cultivar 'Jenny' HCC/AOS 79 pts awarded in Feb 12, 1986!


Description:

Our candidate has one flowers on one staked inflorescence

Petal W - 3.9 cm;               Petals L - 5.5 cm;

Lip/Pouch W - 2.9 cm;      Lip/Pouch L - 5.4 cm.

Exhibitor - Madhu Chintala, Deep Cut Orchid Society, NJ

Plant has been nominated for flower award and scored 80 pts (Award of Merit)

Paphiopedilum Nivarose 'Asha' received an AM/AOS (80 points) at the AOS judging during the  North Jersey Orchid Society Show (January 12, 2024)

Virtual Award Description

One charming, well-proportioned flower on one 18-cm, staked inflorescence; flower paper white; sepals veined green, coalesced centrally; petals ovate, held horizontal, heavily stippled garnet, suffused green proximally, margins hirsute; pouch white, overlaid intense rose proximally, diffused to white distally, interior stippled rose; staminode bilobed, margins dentate, white, centrally-veined grass green; substance firm, texture matte. Commended for fine balance of traits inherited from parents.
